You Put the Lime in the Coconut …
What is it about beach patterns that makes everything bright and sunny — even on a rainy day when the towels and swimwear are scattered on the grey porch? Lush ferns, sandy shoes, sunburns, lemonade and beach bags . . . these are a few of my favorite things. Why can’t we have bright, cheerful prints all the time?
Today I’m working on my beach themes in anticipation of time on the shore.
The beauty of summer themes in general is that it make it easy to envision the end use of your product. This, in turn, makes your designs stronger and more functional. It’s important to remember that all of your work should eventually find a market. When you look at your designs for review, you should be thinking about how someone could use your work, not just how much you like or don’t like the way it turned out — so remember to put the lime in the coconut!
