Melons Make the Best Summer Colors

plaid melon rowIn my opinion, melons are the color of summer as much as blue skies and green grass — perhaps even more so, since they are so seasonal and autumnal days can have sharp blue skies, too.  There’s a lot of variation in melon colors, from color intensity to contrast, which makes it fun to work with in patterns — check out these two variations to prove the point.

In this pattern I went with something that would bring summer fiestas poolside or add a little sparkle on the deck.  A variation on collegiate argyle and classic Frank Lloyd Wright brings a little extra body to summer patterns, which are usually more organic shapes like circles and swirls.  There aren’t too many summer surfaces that wouldn’t be cheered up by this pattern.plaid colored row 4
