A Good Deco Down…

Long, vertical lines and curly elements that cross each other make this classic art deco

That’s right, you just can’t keep a good deco design down…

One of the fun things about playing with a deco element is the versatility of the patterns.  Here, I took a simple scroll motif and played with the spacing.  In the red design repeat, I stretched long connecting lines between them and added lots of space to give it a more formal look.  In the blue design, I made the repeats close together with much less spacing, significantly increasing the energy, or amount of work the eye must do to see the pattern.

Simple changes, but they create two entirely different looks.  The red pattern would make something fun during the holiday season, while the blue works better on a patio.
